I thought that this was a 4.5 star series because it had a lot of surprises and adventure in it, and after reading the first book, I knew that I had to read the rest of the series. At the beginning of the first book, Percy and his high school class went on a field trip to a museum. But on that field trip a very, very strange incident happens with Percy's English teacher which starts a chain reaction of other bad things that happen...such as his mother disappearing, battling strange monsters, living in a place he never knew existed, finding out who he really is, and finding out there's a whole bunch of other people like him.

Main Character(s) Recap:

Percy Jackson is a brave teenager who knows that there is something special about him, but he can't figure out what it is. But he does have some clues: #1. Sometimes water acts strange around him (mostly when he's afraid or angry). #2. He can read the Greek language, but has always had trouble reading English. #3. One day after school, he was walking by a room where he thinks he heard his friend, Grover, and his Greek mythology teacher, Mr. Brunner (later known as Chiron), talking about somebody (maybe him?) being ready for something.

Annabeth is one of the other kids that has special abilities like Percy. Later on in book one, she becomes one of Percy's best friends and starts going on adventures with him.

Grover has been Percy's only friend ever since Percy had moved to Queens, NY. But after the incident Percy had with his teacher and a very short vacation with his mom, Percy finds out that Grover was more than just his friend but that he was also his guardian, and that he intends on keeping both jobs. After Percy gets used to his new life, he becomes even better friends with Grover and, like Annabeth he goes on adventures with Percy as well.
